This scarf is hand-woven from raw wild silk found in the highland Tapia forest of Madagascar by women of the Ny Tanintsika cooperative of the Manandriana area, using traditional equipment and spinning methods.
The silk comes from endemic wild silkworms called Borocera madagascariensis, which are found mainly in the Tapia forests of this region and are some of the most threatened woodlands in the world
By buying one of these scarves you directly contribute to the conservation of these ancient woodlands, traditional handicraft skills as well providing a sustainable source of income for the women
